Leaking CO-RE Head 96

Hello,

Did someone have problem like this? Please watch the video.

We replaced some O-rings, it doesn’t help… Could you explain what this issue is? What should we do next?

Many thanks for any help!

A few (perhaps silly) questions -

  1. Is that just water, being used for demonstration purposes?
  2. Which tip type are those and have you tested those tips on the 8 channels as well?
  3. Do you have the log from a maintenance and verification run on the head?
  4. When was the last time you cleaned the head?
  1. DMSO.
  2. 1000μl Clear tips. Yes, no problem with 8 channels.
  3. We do only the maintenance (daily + weekly)… Starline.zip never done the verification.
  4. We have never done it. Do we need to call the service or could make it our own? We did a calibration with a tool for Head 96 and we had been working actually. It just happened recently.

Hi @Oleksandr ,

It looks like your retract distance isn’t enough to ensure the tips are out of the liquid before an air gap can be aspirated. See below for where your air gap aspiration is actually happening:

Try using 35-40 mm retract distance so that the air gap can be aspirated after the reagent. This will give you the extra barrier to prevent dripping.

Great, good to know. Have you tested with other liquids and observed similar things or is it just with DMSO? In the weekly maintenance report in that Zip folder is says that the 96 head hasn’t had the tightness check performed as part of the report, it might be worth doing that just to see if it recognises it as successful or faulty.
