Hi everyone, sorry if this has been answered before, I couldn’t find anything on the topic and I’m pretty new to this community. I’m currently trying to pipet into a 384 well plate (Genesee Olympus Plastics 384 well PCR plate) using the 50uL core-ii filter tips with the 96 MPH and the tips are continuously crashing into different parts of the plate. I’ve tried to teach the head where the wells of the plate are but I can never get all the tips to line up (the ends all seem to be slightly off-center at different angles). Has anyone had this issue, and was it with the tips or the plate? I’m wondering if maybe having the smaller, circular well openings on the 384 well plates is the issue, or if I need to get different tips. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
What carrier is the plate in? If the carrier does not firmly hold the plate in position, you won’t have a reproducible target to hit. I like the “Tabbed” carriers with the plastic corner tabs. They hold the plates in place, but are not too tight to prevent the CORE grippers from picking and placing.
This may not be your issue, but it’s maybe the easiest to fix.
We are using the APE_CARRIER with the lab definition PLT_CAR_L5AC_A00. The metal tabs seem to hold the plates in place ok.
Ok I think I may have figured it out. I went through and completely recalibrated everything, and it seems to work better now. Still not perfect, but the tips haven’t been smashing into the plate so thats good enough for me! Thank you so much for taking the time to respond, I very much appreciate it
