AI meets your lab: Early testers wanted for LabThunder

Hi, my name is Julian. I worked as a service engineer for nearly a decade before founding LabThunder with a small team to solve the issues I encountered daily in the lab:

Lost time due to scattered documentation or small mistakes, missing maintenance records, critical know-how limited to just a few people – and logbooks still done on paper.

LabThunder is built specifically for labs working with complex equipment like HPLC, LC-MS, GC-MS**, and similar systems – where uptime, traceability, technical documentation, and shared knowledge really matter.

We’re now offering early access to LabThunder – a lab management tool designed for these environments.

Key features:

– equipment management and maintenance tracking
– searchable digital logbooks
– document and knowledge management
– usage statistics
– system booking calendar
– error reporting and tracking
– integrated AI assistant
pre-trained on content from Shimadzu, Knauer, Antec Scientific, and SCAT
(to answer technical questions and preserve critical know-how)
The AI can also read logbooks and calendars for contextual help – far beyond what ChatGPT alone can do.

You can also train the AI with your own lab documents to reflect your specific systems, procedures, and workflows.

LabThunder also includes a built-in LabWiki for documenting SOPs, troubleshooting guides, and team knowledge.

The test phase begins in September and will run for 3 to 6 months, completely free of charge. We only ask for regular feedback and suggestions for improvement during the test phase.

If you choose to continue using LabThunder after the trial, we’ll offer a special discount for early testers.

After working as the sole engineer in a lab with lots of instruments (for just 2 years), this is something I was thinking about making lol, it just needs to exist, and it sounds like your solution encapsulates most of everything it should.
What kind of pricing do you expect after the trial? or what factors will lean into the pricing?

Hi there,

sorry for my late reply β€” I didn’t see your message earlier.

The pricing depends a lot on how closely we can work together (for example, for case studies and feedback) and also on the size of your lab (number of users).

If you like, we can set up a short meeting so I can show you how the software works and what the pricing would look like after the testing phase.

For orientation: for a lab with around 20 people, the yearly license costs for all combined is less than a single monthly salary of a lab technician.

And even if you just want to take a look β€” I’m always open for feedback

Best,

Julian
