Are there any solutions out there for automated centrifugation of BSL2 materials? I’m seeing that the high air flow made by a centrifuge means that they shouldn’t be placed in a biosafety cabinet, but also that they produce aerosols, meaning they have to be contained, or use carrier covers that don’t look like they could be used by an arm.
Has anybody faced this and found a way around it?
Can you share what BSL2 material you’re working with? I worked in BSL2 labs and we had to use container covers for blood and were able to get away with just sealing plates.
These would be pathogenic bacteria cultures, if we could get away with just sealing them then that would be a big win.
I’d have to defer on bacteria cultures but yeah we were able to use container covers for tubes, decappable matrix tubes, plate seals across many kinds of source material, etc…
Not sure, rules may be stricter in the EU tbh
