Deck Offset Issue

Hi all,

Our lab is having some trouble with labware definitions and using the 8 channel on our Microlab Star. We have noticed that when aspirating/dispensing from some well plates, the 8-head does not pipette directly in the middle of wells, sometimes causing pipetting on the walls or even lifting the plates up. We are confident that the labware definitions are correct, and when trying to use the teaching needle to check positions, it seems like the tip is slightly off centered from the well or pipette tip that it picks up (picture included).

Is there any procedure to fix this deck offset entirely in one go for all labware, rather than having to teach each individual positions for every labware?

Thank you in advance!

you probably need to recalibrate the instrument.

That’s what we’re thinking, is there any way to recalibrate the heads yourself? Or is that something specifically through Hamilton

you can recalibrate it yourself if you have the tools. last time i check the tools were 30kish

Thanks, I’ll keep looking around… Hope this isn’t the case haha

its worth the tools, if you have too many instruments or repair time is the priority otherwise Hamilton service is great and quick as this is covered in service contract
