Dispense on the Fly - [P8: Syntax, Parameter out of range.]

Hello Venus experts!

I have encountered an issue with Dispense on the fly single step that I hope you can help me investigate.

The pipetting part of “Dispense on the fly” works flawlessly. However, after dispensing to a plate the system will stop and prompt the “risk for collision” dialog instead of performing an tip eject.

Trace says: [P8: Syntax, Parameter out of range.] and (Parameter out of range or missing parameter …)
(0x28 - 0x1 - 0x3)

I created a test method to investigate further but could not narrow it down further - it seems to be independent of the Dispense on the fly single step’s settings / advanced settings. I can provide logs for these 4 test case if anyone can provide an upload link.

Edit: I am pre-dispensing twice following aspiration, after dispensing there should be 1 post aliquot remaining (that should be thrown out with the tips).

Could you upload a diagnostic file from one or all of the tests?

I’m guessing the issue is more related to the liquid class, but the COM Trace will show what the parameter out of range is.

Hello @BrandonBare_Hamilton, Yes of course! Uploaded all 4 .trc files (might not be relevant if LC related).

Can you upload the COM Trace? Specifically, the one named HxUsbComm20260609.trc. That’s the file that will give me the information to tell you what to look for.

Thank you for uploading the files. I can’t see any issues on my end unfortunately. There are two steps you can try to shed more light:

  1. Sanity check, try to remove the two dispenses prior the Dispense on the Fly to see if the error goes away.
  2. Repeat the test but turn on debug mode by sending the firmware command C0AA with parameters db1

For option 2, please upload the new COM Trace file as additional details will be in the file to view.

@BrandonBare_Hamilton, I have tested without pre and post dispenses during early troubleshooting, but with same outcome. I just uploaded the com trace that also has the firmware command for debugging.
