Does anyone know how to solve this issue? This Tecan Fluent hasn’t been used for a while and I tried to bring it up to use. I had this error and thought it was a bad tip-adapter filter, changed out to all new cone filters and this error still pops up on channel 4 when picking up tips.
Possibly a bad tip adapter sensor. when tips are mounted, they shift the black cylinder up against the tip adapter “box” that has the cables coming out and going into the channel. If that “box” doesn’t make full contact when shifted up, or if it’s not sensed, there’s no way for the instrument to confirm that a tip has been picked up successfully.
You could try manually holding it up to see if that passes and isolate the issue. Just be careful of moving parts.
I’m having this same issue. Could you describe in more details what this entails? I’m not sure what you mean by tip adaptor “box”.
Please refer to this expertly annotated image:
The box I was talking about is the ILID block - it consists of an ILID board (in the flag-shaped compartment hanging off the side of the block) and a DiTi Sensor, which is the open box shaped device surrounding the channel, with screws in the top-right and bottom left. You can also see a black sleeve butting against the ILID block on the bottom. When a tip is physically mounted, that sleeve moves up, and pushes against the DiTi Sensor which will then transmit a signal whether or not the sensor is triggered meaning a tip is/is not mounted.
In the original question, I figured that the sensor might have gone bad, so replacing the DiTi Block would resolve the sensor issue. The parts are slightly different on EVO and Fluent, (and it’s been a few years so I might have a couple part names wrong) so be sure to be specific on what the problem is and what equipment you’re working with.
“DiTi blocked” is not the usual message text if the tip is just missing in the box. It might be (don’t know for sure) the message for the situation when the channel hits ‘something’ while moving down (sensed by the z motor), but later the tip sensor didn’t confirm that a tip is mounted; meaning the moveable sleeve didn’t move up like it should when a tip is mounted or the sensor was unable to detect that the moveable sleeve is up.
