Feedback: Hamilton Incubator Shaker & Azenta Automated Roll Heat Sealer

Hi all! We’re building out an integrated liquid handler that will require temperature controlled microplate shaking and sealing with breathable seals. Looking for feedback on the following two integrated devices:

Thanks in advanced!

We used the Azenta (a4s) sealer, integrated into our Hamilton deck. The driver for Hamilton was easy to get up and running. The success rate of the sealer was very high with the proper temperatures and time set for various plate types. Often the tops of the wells would melt, but not so much that they would prohibit tips from accessing the wells (Hamilton piercing, 300 uL or 50 uL).

Reloading a roll takes a bit of practice but shouldn’t be a problem after a few times.

Footprint is larger compared to the Agilent PlateLoc. We had our inside an extension of the plexi glass enclosure, so it took a substantially longer left-side extension to fully enclose and access with the iSWAP - though this is specific to our configuration and the orientation of the sealer in comparison to the deck.

Overall, no show-stopping issues to call out for this device.
