Fluent FCA Nested DiTi Management

I’m thinking about using nested 350 tips for a new workflow as I need more capacity than my 5 hanging nests and I don’t want the added plastic of FCA tip boxes. I’m having some trouble with the wafer removal with an RGA in Fluent Control. In the simulator I’m trying to send the used wafer to my MCA thru-deck waste, but getting an out of range in X. I’m using the “Replace Used Diti Racks” RGA command. The MCA waste is in the middle of the deck and on the same deck X-position as the stack of tips.

“Target position for arm ‘RGA 1’ out of range: X (Point=2096.5 Min=450.96 Max= 1379.96)”

I know there’s the FCA transfer tool option, but I had some mixed reliability using that for the Evo and would rather not have to stock transfer tool refills.

What fingers are you using and can you provide additional details about your deck?

For example, do the nests nearby have tall labware?

I only have these 4x 7mm positions for the nested tips at the moment. The other plate positions are cooled nests and 61mm. There was another 61 mm nest with some 1mL plates, but I deleted it in my test to clear space around the tips stack and there is still an X-position error.

I have the eccentric fingers equipped, primarily for plate movements or restocking MCA tips.

Do you use the RGA to throw anything else away in the waste? According to the error it’s trying to go to 2096.5 in the X but that’s way out of range. Perhaps the waste position isn’t properly taught for the RGA? I’ve forgotten how FluentControl handles vectors, it’s not like Evoware is it?

No this is the first time I’m using the RGA for anything going to waste. That’s probably the case. I was hoping it would use pathfinder to sort it out for me, but maybe the waste is not set properly as you say.

Did you resolve it? I’m curious if you’re just encountering a simulation error. I haven’t had issues with dumping boxes items into the waste but I’m also not using the nested tips (all filter, all the time for me).

I haven’t pursued it much further beyond the testing on my sim. I don’t have any nested tips on hand at the moment so I haven’t tried it on my instrument.
