Check at Windows Task Manager - Services Tab there is a service called something like Tecan User Management or UMS and try to start it manually (right-click & select Start). There are like 4 or 5 Windows Services that start their name with Tecan and should be running before you start FluentControl.
Hi, you may also want to check for the presence of the User Management folders on the computer hard drive and ensure they appear to be populated with files.
C:\Program Data\Tecan\Tecan User Management
C:\Program Files (x86)\Tecan\Tecan User Management
You may potentially need to run a repair from the software installer if starting it manually as suggested above does not work.
We see this error frequently.
In our case it is because we have multiple liquid handler’s (LH) trying to “grap” the same file on a network drive.
We see this error if; 1. The PC has not network and therefore find the file; 2. An other LH PC for some reason still has some connection to the UMS file.
(A bit like if two people try to edit the same excel file)
To clear up the issue we have to either get access to network or make shut down LH-PC that is causing the “file-collision”.
Do you have multiple LH-PC connection to the same file?
Do anyone have any other suggestion to help our case?
