I am relatively new here and I would like to ask the community some guidance on the usage of nested tip racks for our upcoming StarV. I would like to use them in some future methods, but I am a bit unsure how the workflow would look like. Do you pick them up directly with the head and then have the gripper remove the plastic holder? Or do you transport them first with the gripper and pick the tips up elsewhere? Also, I heard there is a dedicated library in Venus to handle NTRs, do you know where I can download this library? Thank you in advance!
It depends on your workflow. If you always use full racks, you just pick them up from the rack and move to the next tier and the next and the next. Once you’ve emptied a layer (there are four layer over potentially 5 tiers) you go one layer lower.
The VisualNTR library is available and works on a STAR-V.
Hi Pascal, thanks a lot for your answer! Our security settings don’t allow me to install the library, yet before trying to fix it I wanted to ask whether this library is strictly necessary for using NTRs? Or could “basic” Venus already handle them?
Well, it’s just a sequence you want to build. So if you make that in the method editor and create your own dialogs, you should be fine without installing it.
