Hamilton Autolys tube problems

We have an Autolys Star. Are any labs that use Autolys tubes experience problems recapping, or replacing the insert?

We are seeing issues during 1) recapping - Autolys channels recaps, but doesnt release, so the channel lifts up and has the whole tube on the end generating an error 2) replacing the insert - it spins and can’t lock in - generating an error. We’ve had hamilton out and had them adjust the channels, and this seemed to fix 2), but 1) persists, and so the instrument is no longer walk away. Its not clear if it’s a plastics issue and/or channel issue. Since its not happening every run, its hard to track down the cause.

It would be helpful to know if others are having the same problems/not, or if anyone has any suggestions for fixes.

HI cdm,

It seems that the Autolys collet gripper might be bent inwards, which holds the cap after recapping and may lift the entire autolys tube as you mentioned.

1: check the status of the Autolys collet, pull little bit outward if needed or replace the collet(Note: the collet is made of plastic, too much stress may break the collet)
2: Check the Autolys cap ejector pin( tension of the cap ejector might gone bad )it stops the tube to eject.

these two suggestion may fix you issue..!!

Dilip

Thank you - this is really helpful information for us to use!
