I recently purchased a secondhand STAR HEPA. Everything appears to be in great condition, but it turns off the fans immediately after starting them. The light works, the environmental reporting works, the only thing that doesn’t work is the reason we bought it… The same behavior happens whether it’s being run through venus or the touchscreen, and there is never any error reported in venus.
Since it’s secondhand, I imagine we’re on our own for actually fixing it, but I was wondering if anyone had any idea what the root cause might be that would cause this immediate shut-down.
It’s the 2015 version of the driver version. HSLHamiltonCAP. Venus 4.
Here’s a snippet of the logfile, there doesn’t appear to be anything reporting as wrong. This is the same HEPA control test that we use to run all of our other units, which are the same model.

If you are using Venus 4, I remember that there was a fix needed for Bonaduz systems. I am not allowed to share any files, so I am tagging @EricSindelar_Hamilton or @NickHealy_Hamilton
How have you added your device? Did you add it also on the deck too as a system? It’s been a few years since I installed a HEPA, but I remember that I had to add it to the system deck and then use it as a device. But only after installing this extra driver for bonaduz.
This is the newer style, Clean Air Protection or CAP. The older style HEPA hood was added as a device.
As for the specific issue with this CAP, it might be drawing too much amperage and is shutting down. The recommendation is to have a Hamilton service visit, but I understand that this was bought secondhand so the support options may be limited. You can reach out to the service hotline to determine what may be possible though!
