We have a Autolys STAR, and have had two Hamilton on deck centrifuges break in 5 years.
1st came new with the instrument. 2nd was a refurbished one we got directly from Hamilton (because there wasnt a new one available). And we just got our 3rd - a new one.
Our instrument usage is very low (centrifuge runs max 16 times a week), our settings are all within spec (5000 acceleration, 4200 max speed). We are running Autolys racks with Autolys tubes. I checked our balance racks with various numbers of tubes - and we are always < 1g difference between balance and sample racks (manual says up to 6g is tolerated).
Have we been unlucky, or are our settings too much or do these on deck centrifuges typically not last long if we are using max speeds?
