I’m in the market for a heater shaker for 96 well plates. On ebay I see a lot of Hamilton Heater Shakers for ~$500 but they always seem to only have the RS232 cable. Would this work as a standalone device? I would think I’d need a power cable too but none of them offer that.
The only other product I know of that can heat and shake 96 well plates is the Bioshake Q1. Unfortunately the product page doesn’t tell me how to buy it, and the only price point I have is this listing: https://medlabdia.com/product/bioshake-q1-for-flowbot-one. I’ve seen good reviews for the Q1 on here but €13k is a shocking number especially since the Hamilton device can be bought for less than 10% of that.
If anyone has any advice here that would be very helpful, it seems that the only two options are weirdly limited but I am probably missing something.
Bioshake 3000-T and Inheco Thermoshake both work, although I dont need the cooling capability of the Thermoshake. The 3000-T seems the most promising of all the options so far. What is your opinion of it?
If you aren’t using a hamilton STAR, you need the hamilton heater shaker control box to provide power to the Hamilton Heater Shaker (https://www.ebay.com/itm/137301065214)
Every HHS has a usb type-b port behind a plate on the side and a rotary dip switch behind a plate on the bottom. If you set the rotary switch to ‘0’ and plug it into your computer, the HHS is a ‘master’ and controls all other HHS attached to the same box through the single usb port attached to the master HHS. You can have up to 8 HHS per HSB.
