I’m working with an SF startup that is developing a very low-cost camera-enabled SCARA arm and gripper on a rail along with control software, both with some unique features / optimizations. While it’s unlikely that I will buy an arm anytime soon, but I have had similar ideas in the past. Andrews alliance, now part of Waters, is the only commercially available arm (SCARA or 6-axis) based LiHa I could find.
