Migrating StarService to New PC – Missing Installer / Registry Issues

Hi everyone,

I’m currently in the process of migrating our Hamilton STAR control software to a newer, more powerful workstation.
I have StarService installed and working correctly on the old machine, but I do not have the original installer available.

I attempted to manually migrate the software by copying the program folder to the new machine (as I thought it was a library), but this is throwing errors when trying to launch—specifically pointing to missing registry keys.

  1. Does anyone have access to the installer for StarService?
  2. Alternatively, has anyone successfully migrated this software manually? If so, do you know which specific Registry Hives/Keys need to be exported and imported to the new machine to make it recognize the copied files?

Any leads or shared resources would be greatly appreciated as we are trying to get this unit back online ASAP.

Thanks in advance!

I would recommend contacting your local field service engineer. They will likely need the software on the system PC anyway, so I doubt they will mind giving you the installer/dropping by to install it.

Why do you need the service software, if you don’t mind me asking?

Hi @Simon,

@PatrickM is correct. You should contact your Hamilton service engineer or field applications support for it. This is the software used by service engineers to run calibration macros at install and at PMs. With that the software has access to all calibration data of the instrument and its components. Hamilton also provides this software to customers who have gone through their service training program.
