Modifying existing labware definitions

On our i5 I currently use a tube rack that holds 2ml Sarstedt tubes but need to modify the labware definition to accomodate 0.5ml Sarstedt tubes instead. Essentially the well bottom sits about 19mm higher in the tube profile than the 2ml variety.

I assumed that changing the height in the well configuration section of the labware editor to be 19mm less would account for this difference but the tip bent pretty significantly when I ran an aspiration step at 2mm from bottom. Am I missing something obvious here?

Which value did you adjust when copying over the new labware definition, just the well height?

@gobron.d That is correct, just the well height.

Are these the 2 you are working with specifically?

  2. Screw cap micro tube, 2 ml | Screw cap micro tubes | Screw cap micro tubes and reaction tubes | Laboratory | SHOP | SARSTEDT

@Kastronaut Hey there. I didn’t get a chance to answer your question before the site went down last week.

Yes, with the exception of the 0.5ml tubes being clear, those are the two types I’m working with. I discovered that the labware height was incorrect. Once I changed that I was able to aspirate from the 0.5ml tube without causing a collision.
