New Error seen with Inheco ODTC

Today one of our STAR operators came to me with an error that happened during a PCR on the Inheco On Deck Thermocycler.

The error happened towards the end of the PCR, and resulted in the method aborting. It is not an error I have seen on either the STAR or the STARlet beore (both of our instruments are equipped with Inheco ODTCs).

The initial error reads:

SYSTEM : Execute method - error; An error occurred while running Vector. The error description is: C:\Program Files (x86)\HAMILTON\Library\Inheco ODTC\Inheco ODTC.hsl(1720) : mscorlib : StartIndex cannot be less than zero. Parameter name: startIndex (0x23 - 0x2 - 0x39) ,
2023-08-21 15:24:50> LIBRARY: Inheco ODTC : ReadActualTemperature - complete with error; Unhandled exception in dll or dll missing!
2023-08-21 15:24:50> USER : Trace - complete; ERROR:: Get Temperature0SiLA message ‘in Simulation’ received by device 1
2023-08-21 15:24:50> SYSTEM : Method has been aborted by the method - complete;

This method has been run many times before, including the PCR during which the method errored out and aborted… I can’t seem to wrap my head around what this error message means, why it happened, or how we can avoid it moving forward. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

This error occurs when a command is sent to the ODTC to query the temperature while a script is not currently being executed on the device.

Without any familiarity as to your method/protocol, I cannot comment as to why this occurred on this run and not prior runs. Have there been any recent programming changes?

To further troubleshoot I would need to review the run trace, along with the method .pkg. If you don’t have access to a URL-based fileshare option (eg. DropBox), you can use the Hamilton file share user content temp folder.

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply Nick! Would it be possible to communicate further via email?

We’re RTP based as well and our STARlet ODTC has just gone down today as well with different error messages than what we’re seeing on the STAR, along with a mid-run blinking red light. Not really sure what is going on over here but no, no programming changes have been made since the last time these methods were run!

I will DM you for further assistance. Thanks.
