I am trying to find an automated centrifuge that doesn’t require an arm to place the plate in the receiver, and would like to find something that is track-friendly (i.e. servo shuttle) so that it works like the ThermoFisher C2 incubator that retrieves the plate by itself from the track. Anyone know of any solutions that circumvent the arm?
You mean a centrifuge that has it’s own shovel for loading/unloading? I’ve only seen a handful of automated centrifuges (VSpin, HiG, HighRes microspin, Hettic) and they all need something to get the plate to the bucket. The VSpin has an optional loader - but you still need to get the plate onto the loader. I haven’t heard or seen one with it’s own loader.

Exactly the insight I was looking for thank you! Yep same here, haven’t seen one with their own shovel is why I thought to ask this forum haha. Omg didn’t realize how cheap arms have become. Do you know if the xArm is integratable with LH vendors’ software programs instead of a dedicated scheduler? Like SAMI instead of Cellario or GBG

We have a couple of xArms now, they’ve been working well.
I don’t know if any of the integration vendors have used them though. I see examples out there in random LinkedIn posts of integrations, but not in the vendor media.
My team is using code we’ve written. There’s a python library from the vendor, a pretty easy to use UI, and built in webserver. For simple things like 2 position pick and place, you could use a python script that your liquid handler calls. Claude can write it up for you in a few minutes. Bolting it down and teaching the positions are probably the hardest parts.
