Opentrons Flex Foil Piercing

I was told by Opentrons tech support that foil piercing with the Flex pipette should be avoided because the pressure sensor will trigger collision errors. Does anyone have alternative methods for piercing foil sealed plates for Opentrons Flex?

Just try it, no? I highly doubt it will cause any damage to the machine.

You can use pre-scored seals (like X-pierce). Do you need LLD? If not, you likely also won’t be impacted by aluminum, but have a chance of your tip bending.

Thanks for the replies. My plates are sealed with an automated plate sealer, so I can’t use scored seals. I was worried piercing might damage the pressure sensor or something. I do intend to use a different set of tips for piercing vs pipetting.
