Is anyone using S-Run yet? If so, is there anything noteworthy to share?
@christinew I was just wanting to bump this - did you ever use it/has anyone else used it that could give some feedback on it?
I have used it, I would say Im still just an advanced beginner at best, but I have created some functional procedures in it.
PAA have their older Overlord software, and you still have to learn to use it to be able to program in SRUN. Basically you create individual tasks in Overlord, which you can then line-up in SRun. It acts as scheduler, which is running many Overlord instances and is able to time them and paralelise them.
For some linear procedures it works fine, for some more complicated stuff the Overlord to me seems to be better. Especially for things where you want to setup something like a while loop or a state machine and let the system make decisions (typically Echo and combining many source plates with many destination plates) we ditched the Srun and we used the Overlord instead.
Theres a lot to discuss, and I dont have experience with other providers, so its hard for me to choose some features that stand out. So maybe if you have specific questions I can try to help out
Thats all really helpful information, thank you! Do you have access to manuals for each software? Beyond that I’m sure I’ll have more questions once I start using them, thanks!
PAA has their kind of support portal where you get access once you have some system from them
Of course let me know if you have some questions or topics to discuss. The Overlord is pretty underepresented on this forum, I will be happy to share knowledge.
Amazing, thank you so much!
