Questions about Venus 6.3+?

Hi @EricSindelar_Hamilton and @AlvaroCuevas_Hamilton,

I saw the Web API manual you posted and all the nice features that Venus 6.3 adds and was wondering how I might be able to get a copy to test deployment for my team.

I’ve taken both basic and advanced software training and the service engineering training(in feb) and was able to get a copy of 6.2.2, but 6.3 looks to address a lot of our problems.

Would you be able to provide details for how to proceed?

VENUS 6.3 is not released yet, but when it is, we will make a post on the forum with the info and updated materials.

Is there an anticipated release date for it or possibility for early testing?

I don’t have a specific date other than it should be soon as in within a month. We do not provide early release candidates for testing.

Hi @Brandon @EricSindelar_Hamilton I’m new; just starting to work with the Web API (Venus 6.2). Seeing mention of a Web API manual is a welcome sight (been going from only swagger thus far, struggling with error-detection). Would you be willing to repost a link to the Web API Manual?
Thanks!

Woah! My mind is blown with 6.3! Is it no longer relying on Microsoft Sql server?! I was trying very hard to get previous version to work on a silicone Macbook, with much failure due to the SQL database that was required. It looks like 6.3 has moved away from Microsoft SQL Servers and to a Docker container for the server? If so, what kind of server is it using now?

VENUS 6.3 still uses SQL server to store the run and sample tracking data.

Please keep in mind that VENUS has only been validated on Windows. Mac and Linux are currently not supported.

Best regards,
Alvaro

Any plans to move away from using Microsoft SQL server for run/sample tracking data? maybe use something more universal like a Postgresql?

There are no plans to move away from SQL at this moment, nor to support other OS besides Windows.
