Safe disposal of excess serial dilution volume

Hi,

I’m wondering what workarounds people may have tried in getting rid of the excess volume in the serial dilution function.

For example, if I’m doing a serial dilution across a plate and it has 10uL of excess volume that I’d like to discard, It tries to dispense it into the tip wash station but sucks at it and the liquid bubbles up at the tip bottom without fully emptying it. This leads to contamination risk when it flies to the Trash before ejecting the tips.

The issue is that the blowout volume and dispense speed is already optimized to the liquid, but troubling when just getting rid of the extra volume at the end.

This is on the Biomek Software and not SAMI, so it doesn’t give me an option for a place to dispense the extra volume at a designated spot, just a checkbox.

You could edit the techinque is uses when dispensing to the wash station to improve that action, or you could trash the tips with the volume still inside?

Hi! Sorry for the late reply. I’ll see if the technique allows it, but to my knowledge, the serial dilution function doesn’t allow for the tips to be tossed with liquid in SAMI.
