Good morning! Hope you can come to the rescue again:
We have a method that requires a great deal of HV tips (sterile/filtered) & 2d Matrix tube racks. We’re limited to using a preexisting setup using the STAR (the goal is to show proof of concept then upon success, this group can finally get their own).
At any rate, are there any nested or stackable 1000 uL tips by chance? Any solution to fit as many HV tips on a deck that doesn’t take up so much space would solve all of our problems. Hoping that’s plausible & appreciate your help either way.
u can try to use 300ul tips and do 2-3 transfer. that may be a little slower but u can put too may tips or even changing 300ul tips. u can put 4 times more tips.
Appreciate the help, but unfortunately using 1000 uL tips is too low for our purpose as it is (ideally will eventually get 5 mL channels) but for now using 1 mL channels for HV transfers for at least 5 mL and up so it already takes a lot longer with that restriction. I’m afraid theyll run away from wanting to use Hamilton going even lower.
I’ve got to be honest, high throughput with high volumes is extremely niche. Normally you’d want one or the other.
I don’t know how much space you’ve got, but without any additional equipment etc. your best bet is a rolling semi-automatic approach, eg. unload empty tip carriers so they can be refilled while tips from another are being used. You could implement sending a mail once a carrier is ready to be filled (utility library), or start a notification executable, to inform a user that they can fill up tips. You could then continuously extend the tip sequence and have the system wait when no more positions are available.
Awesome feedback Patrick, thank you so much. I think we definitely will be doing that at least to start. Seems the only real feasible way, I love the notification idea, thank you for your brilliant ideas. Makes a world of difference.
