Tips falling off 8-span or not ejecting on STAR with CORE I

Hello all,

We have an intermittent issue on a STAR instrument with CORE I tech. Occasionally tips fall off the 8-span or are not successfully ejected. Maintenance tests pass with no errors.

We are using CORE-II tips.

I found this page on replacing legacy CO-RE stop discs and O-rings for Prep:
https://www.hamiltoncompany.com/knowledge-base/faq/how-do-i-replace-legacy-co-re-stop-discs-and-o-rings-prep

Should we replace the CO-RE stop discs on the STAR as described there? Using the same Part Numbers? Has anyone seen similar behavior? Is this an issue related to CORE I? Or CORE I using CORE II tips?

Thanks.

CO-RE I stop discs are compatible with CO-RE II tips, which we have been shipping for years now.

What is not compatible are CO-RE II stop discs with CO-RE I tips.

It sounds like your issues require technical support, which may include replacement of the CO-RE I stop discs. Tips should never fall off given the lock/key mechanism of CO-RE technology so something is interfering.

Thanks for the speedy answer Eric, as always!

Could you please share the PNs for the CO-RE I 8-span stop discs and changing tool, assuming they are different from the ones specified in the article I shared above?

The CO-RE I Stop Disk Removal tool should be the same part number: 6603034-01

I recommend reaching out to our Technical Support to confirm and get the part/numbers for the CO-RE I parts: RoboticService@hamiltoncompany.com

Perfect, thanks Eric!
