Hi - is there a way to exceed the 255 character limit for a variable when writing to a structured text file? (IE: Exporting a variable through the “write to file” command in VENUS cannot seem to exceed 255 character length, even if I increase max column length to 1000).
VENUS can import a string >255 characters long, and store it in an array, but it can’t write it back out to a structured (tab delimited) text file, unless its ASCII format, but our entire filewrite logic is based off a structured text file that is tab delimited. Is there any way to do this besides re-creating the filewrite process to output a ASCII file?
I fear the 255 character limit is a given for the time being. But outputting data in ASCII shouldn’t be too much of an adaption, you can just concat the string you want to write after all.
Yeah at the moment I’m re-writing the export to LOOK like a structured text file like this:
“field 1” “field 2” “field 3” etc…
because exporting as ASCII just gives me back
field1field2field3
So I’m reverse engineering it to make it look like a text structured file and still be able to carry 255+ characters in each field by using the StrConcat4(“,field,”,CR,LF) and just exporting as ascii and that seems to work but I was hoping there was a better solution than that.
