I’m reaching out regarding an issue we’ve encountered in Venus 6 compared to Venus 4.
In Venus 4, when multiple labware sequences are positioned on the same deck position, we can right-click on the position and use the “Bring to Front” command to make a specific labware visible. Once that labware is brought forward, we can perform actions such as “Adjust Labware Position” to teach it.
However, in Venus 6, following the same steps (right-clicking the position and selecting “Bring to Front”) does not actually bring the selected labware forward. As a result, we’re unable to select the desired labware for operations like “Adjust Labware Position.”
I’ve attached a video demonstrating the behavior in both Venus 4 and Venus 6 using the same deck layout for reference.
We have issues in 2D and 3D view.
Does anyone have a cheeky work around or solution to this? This is preventing us from teaching the deck (“adjust labware position”). This is a serious and annoying issue.
To teach different labware on the same carrier site, I simply keep the “Alt” key pressed while left-clicking on the site. This switches through the different labware.
Does this work for you?
This works. Also, just right clicking anywhere in the deck layout and going to “Salect labware” (you can sort the list by placement, labware type and category if it is too long). But yes, “bring to front” is gone.
I also recommend working with different layers to have a more organised deck.
This has been addressed in version 6.3.2 though it was missed in the release notes, so we’ll have to update them.
In 3D mode, when you right-click on a labware on a site with multiple labware, there is an option to Select Labware where you can select the one you want to view properties, adjust location, etc.
As @PatrickM pointed out, you can also right-click on the deck layout (not selecting any labware at first) and you will have an option to Select Labware. This would return the entire list of labware though, which is functional, but not as intuitive as going to the site where the labware is located.
