I am trying to load a carrier of tips using the STAR Smart Step. I am putting the relevant information into the box that pops up (i.e. Sequence, Checking the box for the Tip Counter, and putting the appropriate tip counter). With the program written as is, I run the method and it gets to the tip sequence loading step and immediately aborts with the following message, VENUS execution ended abruptly. No other hints as to what has happened. Has anyone seen this type of error and how to fix it?
It looks like Direct X is failing to register. If the VENUS 6 reinstallation did not resolve the issue, I would recommend trying to manually install Direct X. It can be found within the VENUS installer subfolders.
Direct X is what VENUS uses to render the 3D deck view. Without it, you will continue to see the error you are seeing.
2D view mode is still not compatible with the new (standard) Run Control, and there are no plans to work on this.
Instead, VENUS 6.3 introduces two changes to mitigate this issue:
2D view mode can now only be selected when using Legacy Run Control
The deck editor now also has a right click > “Select Labware” option in 3D view mode, same as the 2D view mode, to select overlapping labware on any deck site.
