We are considering updating our STAR systems to Windows 11 LTSC + Venus 6. However I’m worried about the forward compatibility of the Kingfisher Flex drivers we currently use in Venus 4 (on W10) .
Hamilton said they are not aware of new drivers being available for this since W11 or Venus 6 have been released. Testing this directly in the lab would involve acquiring a W11 PC with Venus 6 that can be connected to our STAR and our STAR would need a firmware upgrade so I would much rather get some info / advice from other “early” adopters before proceeding.
Hi! I was just wondering if you ended up integrating your Kingfisher with your Hamilton robot. We have a STAR and just got a Kingfisher so I’m looking to see if its possible to integrate them. Thanks!
I have not integrated a KF Flex into a STAR but I have integrated a KF Presto on a STARlet on Venus 6. Hamilton provided the driver and library for the Presto. You will need to still program the KF and have those methods ready for the presto. Depending on the version of Venus 6 you may run into issues with the WebAPIHost but hopefully they have been resolved in the newer versions of Venus 6. (this issue was on 6.02. and 6.2.1.)
