VENUS on Vantage: Main module error / Unknown parameter error

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to run VENUS on Vantage, but I keep running into this error.
Has anyone else encountered this issue or know what might be causing it?

2025-10-24 09:31:25> Microlab® Star with Venus on Vantage : Main - error; An error occurred while running Vector. The error description is: Unknown parameter error. Firmware component Main module (0x29 - 0x1 - 0xa)

Are you getting this error on every method or is it just throwing an error on this method?

It happens with every method that I try to run through VENUS. I was able to operate the robot using INSTINCT but I would like to run pyhamilton eventually which is why I wanted to get VENUS working first.

Hi @rkaptur,

INSTINCT V requires the HamiltonXRP service to be running in the background in order to operate properly, however, this service also blocks VENUS on VANTAGE (VoV) from working correctly, leading to the error you’re experiencing. In order to use VoV, you need to Stop the HamiltonXRP Service:

If you plan to work primarily in VoV at any point, then I suggest setting the HamiltonXRP Service ‘Startup type’ to Manual, so that it only starts when opening INSTINCT V (note, you will need to Stop the service again when switching back to VoV):

The above images are from the Services section of Task Manager.

Thank you,
Dan
