Hello everyone,
I am a very new user of TECAN and FluentControl. I wanted to share something that I found useful, but didn’t see any thing out there that explained it.
I wanted to figure out how to do pipette multiple times using the same pipette tip with pipetting a single volume.
Here is what I found, the worklist follows the A/D/W standard flow. The work list executes things in “batches” of 8. One batch is one A/D/W command flow. For instance:
This is one “chunk”, the TECAN will grab 8 tips, aspirate from Source, and dispense at destination, then drop tips. If we wanted to repeat it for dispensing in wells 9-16, we could add to the end of this batch like this:
This chunk will grab a new set of 8 tips, aspirate from Source, then dispense in Destination, then drop tips.
But if you wanted to conserve tips and save time, you could combine both chunks into a single chunk like this
Now the TECAN will grab 8 tips, aspirate from Source, dispense in Destination (1-8), aspirate again from Source, dispense in Destination (9-16), then drop tips.
The first chunk (A/D/A/D/W) controls the first pipette tips, the second chunk controls the second pipette tip, etc.
This will also work if you don’t have multiples of 8, if you only need to fill 14 wells, you could remove the A/D lines related to Destination well 15 and 16. It would still grab 8 tips, dispense in wells 1-8, aspirate with tips 1-6, then dispense in wells 9-14.
