Hamilton Venus Software Issue

Hey all,

When I tried to set up a computer as a Hamilton instrument computer, I ran into issues. To be more specific, I am trying to replace a Hamilton computer (that is able to run scripts) with a company computer. The new company computer is causing the issues. Anybody have solution(s)? I found this other post https://labautomation.io/t/venus-on-vantage-firmware-check-failed/2011 which suggested taking this Hamilton\Config\VStar.cfg from the original installation and replacing it on the new computer. However, I don’t see that file in my old computer which worked.

Thanks all!

Hello @trand16,

The firmware for the master module (7.6S…) that is on your instrument is for STAR. So your config folder would not have VStar.cfg file because that file is for VANTAGE. Instead, you should be looking for a file called ML_STAR.cfg in the same folder location.

You are more than welcome to transfer this file from the old computer to the new one and give it a try, but back up the one on the new computer first. The last section of that file is what lists firmware compatibilities. Might I ask what version of Venus you are installing? You can also go the route of putting newer firmware on your system as well.
