Using the MCA to transfer 96 tubes (actually 48) to a plate

Hi all,

I have a carrier defined with 96 positions for holding 1.5mL glass tubes. In brief, I can’t get the MCA to aspirate from 48 tubes and stamp into a plate.

…or mix
…or dispense
etc.

Does anyone have a quick trick to make this happen?

Operating with Fluent Control Ver 3.4, a MCA 384-well head, and attempting to transfer 500uL with the EVA (extended volume adapter).

If not, I think my only workaround will be to program the 48 tubes as individual wells in a false 96-deep well microplate, and go from there. But before rewriting this script, though I’d reach out to this community first!

Screenshot of worktable, 48 tubes in 96-position carrier. I tried pipetting from the “carrier”, however this is a non-pipettable device.

I’m also curious! At the moment, I create a custom labware as you suggested.

If anyone finds a workaround, I’d like to know.

Cheers,

i’ve done something similar with a 48 well plate, and using MCA to pickup an offset number of tips

the labware teaching is key to success as MCA requires specific spacing of wells,

does your actual labware conform to a 9 mm spacing in X & Y ??

After reaching out Tecan and reading the comments here, my only avenue was to trick the system into believing my 48 tubes were individual wells within a 96-well plate. It wasn’t the horrible to re-write the script and program the lab (@Optimize , standard 9mm pitch), I was just hoping someone had a quick-n-dirty trick.
